The North Face X Xian

My good friend and incredible athlete Xian Goh is supported by The North Face, and as part of her partnership deal she brought me on to create some content for her socials. This shoot really shows how a broad creative brief and minimal limitations can allow for some of the best creative moments! Filmed with my kit about 5 mins from my flat we spent a couple of hours shooting this ‘campaign’. It was a great opportunity for me to experiment with visuals and shooting style to create something that feels very vibrant and energetic. Lots of fun!

Our brief was simple: urban, youthful, and use these clothes please! I opted to use a slow shutter speed to emphasise Xian’s speed and energy which I think turned out really nicely.

The brief also asked for stills as well as video, so again it was a great opportunity to practice my stills photography. Xian isn’t very used to posing for the camera, and was much more comfortable when either doing an action or moving in some way. This was great fun and I used it to our advantage, getting some lovely action shots where she looks happy and comfortable.
