Abuse of Power is an Audible Podcast by celebrity defence lawyers David Rudolf and Sonya Pfeifer. This video was made as part of the build up to the release of their second series and it aimed to offer explanation into how someone could serve a wrongly convicted life sentence.
The subject matter was one of the most challenging to research as it involved looking in depth at very complex parts of the American justice system. Filming was also taking place remotely from the US, which posed extra challenges!
Audible UK: Abuse of Power
This project is a great example of why I absolutely love documentary content: it exposes me to completely new worlds, and I often get to learn from the experts. It also had creative limitations, which I always believe foster good ideas. As the film was very interview heavy, we decided to create short snappy sequences from archive footage. These are my favourite bits in the film, they create tension and add breathing space while hinting at the broader implications of a system set against the individual.
